Now 3 years ago, RicoP’s 2005 trip to arguably the greatest single Trance event on the planet was an experience never to be forgotten. Back then, Rico and 3 intrepid trance fans braved the Dutch rain and cold to dance for 12 hours to some of the finest music on the planet. A weekend break like no other, it began one rather blustery morning in February 2005. Several buses, trains, and planes later, the grand Jaabeurs arena in Utrecht stood before them.

The cheers grew louder as 9pm neared. Before long 40,000 strong clubbers would be witnessing the greatest dj’s spin before their very eyes. The lineup in 2005 included Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Rank1 and Marco V. Rivalling events in the UK that Rico attended that same year such as Global Gathering, Trance Energy always had a special place in Rico’s heart. It optimised what sharing a passion for the universal religion is all about…the atmosphere far exceeded that of any event in the UK and the Dutch organisation was second to none.

Before long, Rico yearned to revisit that unforgettable weekend. Having met some amazing people during university studies, and spreading the trance message to others, a group of friends decided that another trip to Trance Energy was necessary. 2007 flew by and overcoming health problems became Rico’s number one priority. However, the challenge was set. The date unknown but 2008 would be the year that Trance Energy would return. By the close of 2007 the date was announced. Joe Carter, a good friend of Rico, celebrates his birthday on February 4th. With Trance Energy 2008 falling inside February, unlike the much later March 10th in 2007, it was perfectly timed for a birthday trip. Joe, a fellow trance fan was eager to spread the word. A Facebook group was created to inform friends of the pending weekend. Numbers rose, with a now confirmed group of nearly 20 of Rico’s friends catching the same flight to party in style. It didn’t end there however…

There are those who have been many times before and are desperate to return. There are those who love the music but have never ventured to Jaabeurs before. And then there are those who are completely unaware of the joy that trance music can bring to peoples lives. It was for this reason that it was decided the Facebook group remain ‘global’ and ‘open’. Now totally global, the confirmed guests have been increasing exponentially since its inception several months ago. Currently standing at 429 confirmed, 163 maybe’s and 54 MIA’s, it is the largest Trance Energy group on Facebook. Guests include some of the biggest names in trance music, including Manuel Le Saux, Carl B, and invites were sent to Above & Beyond, Jose Amnesia, Jon O’ Bir…the list goes on. This merely demonstrates the worldwide reach and amazing connection trance music brings to those who love it dearly.
